We don't expect the next round of negotiations to be easy; we know that we need to be prepared to fight for the contract we deserve.
In any fight, a union is only as strong as its membership is united, informed, and engaged. To ensure that we go into the upcoming round of negotiations with the strength necessary to win a fair contract, we are building a network of grassroots leadership – a Contract Action Team (CAT) – to involve all of our members in the effort.
Volunteers on the Contract Action Team (CAT) step forward to ensure direct, one-on-one communication with a specific group of union colleagues whom they already know, socially and/or professionally. CAT volunteers serve as a critcal link between rank-and-file members and union leadership at the bargaining table. They see to it that their colleagues know what's going on with the campaign for a contract, and they see to it that union staff and elected leaders know what's going on with their colleagues.
If a CAT volunteer has identified you as one of the colleagues with whom they'll be keeping in touch, consider them your go-to point person for matters related to the contract campaign, and expect for them to contact you periodically with news updates and information about how you can support the collective effort.
